Nathalie Gauglin

sculptor of the intimate

“The eyes. That’s what attracts attention at first contact,” rightly emphasizes art critic Ludovic Duhamel. Two smoky mysteries, deep as abysses of solitude. Two black holes that absorb the surrounding light, like two question marks.” Nathalie Gauglin shapes clay to give birth to beings that seem to emerge from the very essence of humanity. Her sculptures, placed on wooden stumps, reveal an uncommon force of expression. Every detail, every tilt of the head, every somber gaze, invites the viewer to dive into the intimacy of these fragile characters, lost in a world of solitude. Through her sculptural language, the artist highlights a quest for comfort in an often tumultuous world.

Nathalie Gauglin was born in 1962 in Versailles. Trained at evening classes at the Beaux-Arts in Versailles, then at Ecole Boulle Paris, she lives and works near Nantes.
