Laurence Chouzenoux
Mirror of soul
Imaginary young girls appear on the canvas of Laurence Chouzenoux. Stylized faces, large enigmatic black eyes, pink cheekbones, each of them opens the door to a world of candor and mysteries. “I paint beauty,” explains the artist. But not only that. It’s a bit of a reflection of my soul. I sit in front of the canvas and I become Alice in Wonderland. I make it exist from a scent, from a memory.” A permanent search, for each young girl, for a balance between their great fragility and the strength of their gaze. A journey to the heart of the intimate through each new portrait.
Laurence Chouzenoux was born in 1971. She lives and works in Brive-la-Gaillarde.
