Kathryn Oldfield
Porcelain forest
Kathryn Oldfield has chosen to live in the heart of a forest, amidst the preserved nature of the Esterel mountains. It is there that she finds inspiration. The animals in her garden and the surrounding woods are populated by hedgehogs, foxes, hares, and other wild inhabitants. It’s an entire world that she observes daily and recreates in her ceramic studio. The animals she sculpts in porcelain embody various characters, often thoughtful, concerned, or sad. Her latest series gives birth to specimens that are half flowers, half animals, in a total symbiosis with nature.
Kathryn Oldfield was born in England in 1964. She was a designer before moving to the Esterel mountains in France and becoming a ceramic artist.
